This CIARRA Mini Espresso Machine looks great and feels well-made. It comes with a wooden tamper, a metal cup, and a magnetic drip tray, and the setup is simple.

The problem? On battery power, it cannot heat water—you need to plug it in. It takes about 4 minutes to reach brewing temperature, producing coffee around 79°C. I got this as I'm on a road trip, and I thought I could have a brew anytime I want. Using hot water from a thermos is possible, but awkward.

If you’re near a power outlet, it works reliably and makes good espresso.

This is a really cute coffee maker that makes decent espresso on the go. No you’re not going to get delonghi quality coffee out of a ~130 portable coffee machine that weights 6 pounds but the point is to use it on the go and this product delivers really well for price and portability.
With respect to the hot coffee functionality I think you’ll be pleased with this if you temper your expectations. It’s good for a portable coffee maker but if you’re used to using a high quality super automatic machine it’s clearly not going to stack up. Even if you’re using a French press while camping you’re looking in wrong place. For us it’s great to use on the go and still get our espresso fix. I don’t have to wait long to get my drink, it tastes good enough to meet my needs in the morning. It’s also nice that we can use the included cup where the espresso pours in as a vessel with our portable milk frother if we’re feeling extra fancy on the road.

Are you looking for a single-serving espresso machine? Then look no further. It has a six-and-a-half-inch capacity reservoir. Comes with a stainless steel cuff and a hefty compact tamp. The controls I found were really easy and self-explanatory. This little machine surprises everyone because it not only makes a single cup but also makes a very good cup of coffee. This offers great value for the money.
